Years later, through the works of some contemporary Scandinavian choir music composers, I rediscovered choir music again and realized it's the form of music which is by far the strongest and most emotional to me. The Creators Project: What is it about church music, or the environment of a church that inspires you?Įric Wahlforss: One of my earliest memories is of myself watching my mother practice with her choir in a 12th century church outside Stockholm. We caught up with Forss to find out what inspired Ecclesia and how the visual element augments the experience of this thematic work. The songs have two main components: the melodies are arrangements of recorded choral, organ, and string sounds, and the percussion is built from the sounds of stone, metal, and wooden objects.Īdding a visual element to Ecclesia is an iPad app (above) that displays a morphing visualization, cycling through religious symbology and architecture in various patterns, reflecting the mood and feel of the music at any given moment. Though it’s not a religious project, Ecclesia shows a reverence for the tradition of religious music that Forss recalls from his childhood, the ethereal sounds of worship and the incidental noises that occur in the same space. ![]() ¡O Romeo! emphasizes the persistent power of Mexica spirituality, even in Shakespeare’s colonial imagining of Mexico. Conquistadors do not integrate, they impose. “Los conquistadores no integran, imponen,” she insists (1.1). Rifke reminds him that this is not the reality of colonization. However, Shakespeare naïvely believes that his art can transform colonization into a benign process of cultural exchange, and he hopes to write a story in which Xochiquetzal “ntegrat her life and her faith with” those of Don Armando (1.1). He marvels at the “mystical potion” xocalatl, or chocolate, and he takes Rifke’s advice to incorporate a hummingbird, which was “very important para los Aztecas” into his play, leading to a line about a “huitzilin that sips the flower’s dew” (1.1). He enthusiastically learns Spanish from Rifke and presses her for information about Mexica culture. Shakespeare is eager for new knowledge from the Americas. In ¡O Romeo!, Shakespeare’s creative process reflects his curiosity about Mexica (commonly known as Aztec) culture, but it also reveals his limited cultural awareness and the appropriative impulses he shares with many other European writers. Shakespeare’s in-process play relates the love story of Don Armando, a Spanish conquistador, and Xochiquetzal, a woman from Tenochtitlán, the ancient capital upon which Mexico City was built. His source is a series of letters that his housekeeper Rifke - a Jewish woman from Spain who fled the Inquisition - has received from her brother, a missionary in the “Nuevo Mundo” (1.1). The play’s central conceit is that Shakespeare is writing what he hopes will be his most important work: a play about Mexico. ¡O Romeo! takes a humorous approach to such serious topics, using satire and absurdity to make a trenchant anticolonial critique while also reflexively commenting on the politics of Shakespeare’s afterlives. While the historical Shakespeare died in April, the death of Sanchez Saltveit’s Shakespeare aligns with celebrations of Día de los Muertos, opening the possibility for understanding the concepts of life and death as well as the legacies of Shakespeare’s works through Indigenous frameworks. The play, co-created with the Milagro cast, takes place in 1616 as Shakespeare is on his deathbed. Olga Sanchez Saltveit conceived and devised ¡O Romeo! in 2014 for the annual Día de los Muertos festival at the Milagro Theatre, the premier Latinx theater company in Portland, Oregon. 6/3/2023 0 Comments Courseforum vcu![]() Faith and I will be grading your work, and we’ll provide you with rubrics for the blog and discussion forums. Also, inspect to see if the USB drivers on your Mac are updated to the latest versions, which can be done on the Apple App Store. To make sure it's not a cable issue, check in other Windows or Mac computers to find out. In these cases, the problem may reside in the USB cable (which is a very common occurrence). Of all possible error messages that may appear on the Android File Transfer for Mac, "could not connect to device" is one of the most common. Also, some devices are harder to recognize by the app than others. Files will be harder to find since the app doesn't use the OS's native file explorer but a custom built-in browser with no shortcuts to the desktop folders and no file previews. Remember that Android File Transfer is not as optimized as other Windows alternatives at the moment of writing. What are the usual problems associated with using Android File Transfer (Mac)? Find the files you need to transfer in the Android File Transfer app and drag and drop them to the desktop. On most phones and tablets, a notification appears upon establishing a USB connection which allows you to access the USB settings page. On the Android device, set the USB mode to "File Transfer/MTP mode". Android File Transfer should open automatically (though you may need to open it at times manually). Go ahead and connect the mobile device to the Mac by using a USB cable. Open the Android File Transfer (a notification might pop up with a warning that the app was downloaded from a non-trusted source, but click Open anyways.) Step 2. Then drag and drop the Android File Transfer app in the Applications folder contained in the Finder. Without further ado, let's unpack the methods summarized above, starting with our pick: Those who don't enjoy the benefits of high-speed internet or abide by a limited data plan may want to stick to the USB or SD card method, while people with download speeds above 20-50 Mbps should be more than content using the cloud or wireless methods. AirDroid facilitates file exchange between Android and Mac in the most intuitive manner available, allowing for direct control of your phone/tablet screen and the possibility of using the Wi-Fi connection for file transfers without being online.Īs for the efficiency of the other methods, it can vary depending on various factors, such as the internal specifications of each gadget, the USB cable used (whether it's the one that came with the mobile device or not), the SD card available, and the quality of your internet connection. If you have an internet or Wi-Fi connection with a download rate of 20 Mbps or above, we strongly recommend using AirDroid for file transfers. 6/2/2023 0 Comments Typebook creator![]() Otherwise, just do the following to clean them out. You can think of this as the current version of the components panel in version 4. In the component panel you have the following features: Using interaction librariesĪll interaction libraries associated with your team account can be accessed from a revamped component panel. For any freelance designer, I can see this as a definite need. With this method, you don’t get the connectivity of updates but it does still allow you to use your libraries outside of teams. There is a workaround to this which is to create a library of components as a regular Pie file as ProtoPie 5.0 has an Export as New Library feature. For the ability to share a library you need to have a Team plan. With an Individual plan, you can create personal libraries for use within your own prototypes but because a library file isn’t physically saveable to your computer you can’t share the library with other designers. It's worth mentioning at this point that the features of interaction libraries differ depending on whether you have an Individual or Team plan. Publishing changes to Cloud make interaction libraries accessible to you or other team members to use. Instead, they are synced from ProtoPie Cloud to ProtoPie Studio. So let’s see where this goes on my next App project. ![]() This even gives the option to design an animated Lottie file, place it in ProtoPie and then test it, and then use the same asset as production asset. Giving me more options when exploring ideas. So the graphic below is an animated PNG (aPNG), but I can also output this as a Lottie jSON asset for te developers, output as an animated SVG (aSVG), or even an iOS launch animation plus some others. Since this App is very new, still feels simple but I know it actively being worked on so I’m looking forward to seeing were this app is going. Also much simpler then using After Effects in my opinion. This animation software is very similar to my other prototyping software so didn’t take me too long to pick up. – Something that Sketch can’t really do.īelow is a screen show from Flow. This brought me back to me Flow, since I had last used to them they had improved a lot, they had launched a full Lottie exporter and I can see they are slowly designing a piece of software that will help me hand off certain types of graphics to developers like Animations, or more specially Lottie and Animated PNG’s. I’m used to designing with movement in mind. So the logical next step was pick up something to help me create animated illustrations, since Micro Interaction had tough me the basics of movement x, y, scale etc etc. So slowly both of these ideas were coming together, illustration and movement. The end result of this was my Oodle Finance project. You can see the need, you just need to find a method to getting it out of your head. This is the great thing because of being a Designer. So I few projects ago I picked up my pencil and started seeing if I could solve my own problem. In another string to my brow kinda project as mentioned above Im often either in need for an illustrator or asking for one. I had a hunch that this software might be able to help me out one day… so a got a licence and kinda for got about it. ![]() Seeming generic name without a clear focus, at first I thought it was an other prototyping program but in fact they seemed like something more interesting. Since I design mainly in Sketch and then designing in motion with ProtoPie or what ever the flavour of the year is i stumbled across a small piece of software called Flow. Two kinda different skills but both seem to have over lap with animation. That being Micro Interactions and Illustrations. This is what brought me to combine two of skills i’ve been pursuing for a while. Being focused on User Experience Design and an interest in current and emerging technology cupeled with keen desire to create beautiful and functional interfaces general means Im constantly exploring either tech, trying out new software or reading about sociology. |
